Description

As an intern you will be responsible for assisting Ryan with tasks around the farm. They may include animal husbandry (feeding, watering, cleaning etc), chicken catching and loading, safely operating small machines, driving tractor, and stacking hay and straw. There is always work around the farm so your days will be full!

• Physically fit, strong, and enjoy manual labour

• Numeracy skills

• Quick learner

• Can listen and follow direction

• Ability to safely work as an individual

• Able to work under pressure

• Can maintain pace of work

• Genuine interest in agriculture

• Positive attitude, self motivated, flexible, and responds well to feedback

• Problem solver and create efficiencies as you work

• Flexible work schedule - hours will vary based on actives at the farm

• Enjoy music, the outdoors and making life’s moments fun while being productive

• Under 30 and Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or a refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Required for funding of position)

• Currently unemployed or underemployed. Underemployed will include students who are currently employed and are taking on an expanded role or more hours of work during the internship. (Required for funding of position)

• You must have your own transportation to the farm

Optional Additional Skills

• Experience with small machines, tractors, or farm equipment

• Knowledge of the local food movement & agriculture

Salary: $15/ hr
